The short version
- You need an account and an email address to use the chat. Purchases add an order record and a token balance.
- What you type in the chat is processed to produce a reply, and is kept so you can see your own history.
- Only share what the conversation needs. SkillShiftAI works from evidence you choose to give it — it does not need names, addresses, ID numbers or confidential employer material.
- Payments are handled by the payment provider. Full card details never reach this site.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion at any time.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to skillshiftai.pro and to the SkillShiftAI career chat, account area and token store that run on it. It explains what information is collected when you browse the site, create an account, buy tokens, or use the chat.
Using the site means this policy applies to you. If you do not agree with it, please do not create an account or use the chat.
What to share in the chat — and what not to
SkillShiftAI is an evidence-led career companion. It works best when you describe your real experience, the role you are targeting, and the part that feels stuck. It does not need identifying detail to do that work, and you should not give it any.
Please redact before you paste:
- Names of other people, and their contact details
- Your own street address, phone number, or date of birth
- Government identifiers — passport, national insurance, tax file, licence or visa numbers
- Employer-confidential material: unpublished figures, client lists, internal documents, contracts
- Referee details, and anything a third party told you in confidence
- Health, financial or other sensitive information about yourself or anyone else
A résumé works perfectly well with the personal header removed. Dates, employers, responsibilities and results are the parts the chat actually uses.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your name or display name, email address, username and a password (stored only as an encrypted hash, never in readable form).
- Purchase details — the token packs you buy, order totals, billing information required to complete the sale, and your token balance.
- Chat content — the messages you send, and the replies generated for you. These are kept against your account so your history is there when you return.
- Messages to us — whatever you write in the contact form, so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, and the pages you view. This is standard web-server and analytics information.
- Cookies — described in the cookies policy.
What we do not collect
Card numbers, expiry dates and security codes are entered on the payment provider's own secure form. They are not stored on this site and we never see them. We also do not buy personal data from third parties, and we do not sell yours.
How we use it
- To create and run your account, and to keep you signed in
- To generate replies in the career chat and show you your own conversation history
- To process token purchases, maintain your balance and issue receipts
- To answer support requests and handle refund or complaint enquiries
- To keep the service secure — detecting abuse, fraud and automated misuse
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages and features are used, so the product can improve
- To meet accounting, tax and other legal obligations
We do not use your chat content to advertise to you, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who else processes it
Running the service means a small number of specialist providers handle data on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purpose we give them:
- Hosting — the servers the site and database run on
- The AI model provider — your chat messages are sent to a third-party language-model service in order to generate a reply
- Payment processing — the provider that takes the payment and confirms it back to the store
- Email delivery — for account, order and support email
- Analytics — see the cookies policy
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, where it is needed to establish or defend a legal claim, or to protect the safety of people using the service. If the service is ever transferred to another operator, account and order records would transfer with it, and you would be told before that happened.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses cookies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, and measure how the site is used. The full list, and how to change your choice, is in the cookies policy.
How long we keep it
- Account and chat history — for as long as your account is open. Ask us to close it and this is deleted, other than what we must keep.
- Order and payment records — kept for the period accounting and tax rules require, even after an account is closed.
- Support messages — kept while the enquiry is open and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back to it.
- Server logs and analytics — kept for a limited period and then discarded or aggregated.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and access to the systems behind the site is limited to the people who need it. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us straight away if you think someone else has been in your account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your account and the data attached to it
- Export your data in a portable format
- Restrict or object to particular uses of it
- Withdraw consent, where the processing relies on consent
Use the contact form and say what you would like done. We will need to be satisfied that the request is coming from the account holder before acting on it. If you are not happy with how we handle a request, you may be entitled to complain to the data-protection authority where you live.
Age requirement
SkillShiftAI is for adults aged 18 or over and is not directed at children. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
This policy will change as the product does. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top. Where a change materially affects how your information is used, we will make that clear rather than quietly swapping the text.
